With our agreement as Jotun and IFS, we are strengthening Jotun’s long‑term growth and innovation plans across 100 countries.
An international company, Jotun operates 39 production facilities worldwide and maintains a presence in more than 100 countries. Its products preserve the unique beauty of the world—additionally, one‑quarter of the world’s commercial vessels are protected by Jotun coatings.
The company is divided into four main business segments:
Jotun Decorative Paints, for interior and exterior coatings used by both consumers and professionals
Jotun Marine Coatings, for shipowners and ship‑management companies
Jotun Protective Coatings, used in industries such as offshore, energy, infrastructure, and hydrocarbon processing
Jotun Powder Coatings, a leading supplier of powder finishes for appliances, furniture, building components, and pipelines
By focusing on quality, brand stewardship, and standardized business processes—with IFS ERP playing a major role—Jotun has built a strong global position.
Jotun began working with IFS in 2004, first deploying IFS application components for finance, manufacturing, logistics, procurement, and maintenance in its Scandinavian operations. After this success, in 2008 Jotun replaced all legacy local systems outside Scandinavia with IFS’s unified, single‑instance, fully transparent ERP solution. That solution now runs Jotun’s core processes across more than 120 sites in 46 countries. Jotun also uses IFS CRM, fully integrated end‑to‑end with its ERP.
By moving its operations to IFS Cloud, Jotun is future‑proofing the company. Under the new agreement, over 9,000 users in 46 countries—including Jotun’s global headquarters in Norway—will adopt these latest updates. Jotun’s primary motivator for the cloud transition is to achieve a more standardized solution with less customization, faster upgrades, and immediate access to new capabilities as soon as they’re released. The company is investing in a strategic, long‑term partnership—driven by R&D—to accelerate operational improvements.
Darren Roos, CEO of IFS, said:
“We are extremely proud to deepen our strong partnership with Jotun and to stand alongside them on their ‘Evergreen’ journey with IFS Cloud. Jotun is a true innovator in its field, and we share their passion for delivering outstanding service and exceptional customer experiences. Jotun has never compromised on quality or reliability. It’s fantastic that IFS can reinforce that commitment and support Jotun’s growth plans.”
Morten Fon, CEO of Jotun, commented:
“Jotun is a long‑term thinker—everything we do aligns with that vision. By continuing to invest in forward‑looking technology, we empower our large, global workforce with modern, intuitive tools that drive profitability. We see ourselves as a challenger brand—ready to take strategic risks, innovate, and achieve our growth targets. We’ve been one of the fastest‑growing paint companies in the world for many years, and we love expanding into new areas and developing new solutions.”
Trond Aune, Jotun’s Global ERP Manager, was equally clear on the value IFS has brought:
“Jotun’s strategy is focused on innovation and sustainable growth. Over the past ten years, the group has achieved impressive expansion, and we’ve used IFS to standardize our operations, commercial processes, and master data. Now we need to standardize even more—so we sought a software partner that invests in R&D and helps us keep innovating while meeting local requirements in every market we serve.”
