ESHOT Buses Under the Assurance of IFS ERP

As of January 1, 2011, ESHOT went live with its new ERP system, and today manages all maintenance and repair activities across six garages and more than 1,800 buses under IFS ERP. Prior to ERP, ESHOT struggled with inconsistent data—different departments used different software, resulting in mismatched records, stock discrepancies, inability to track inventory levels, no real‑time view of vehicle status, and no centralized logging of bus refueling across its six sites. Needing 24/7 uptime, ESHOT launched an ERP search in 2010 to resolve these issues.

After a public tender, IFS’s enterprise‑grade ERP applications were selected as the solution best matching ESHOT’s requirements.

ERP Vendor Selection Criteria
Under the coordination of Director of Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Osman Orman, ESHOT conducted a detailed pre‑tender analysis of shortlisted vendors’ ability to meet functional needs and secure its investment. Orman explains:

“During selection, we evaluated not only the technical fit but also the vendor’s experience, references, and financial stability. Based on our analysis, we awarded the contract to IFS via an open tender process—IFS best met our needs.”

Unified Operations & Shared Data
Orman states that the ERP project’s primary goal was to enable all ESHOT divisions to speak the same “language,” share a single source of truth, and use resources more efficiently. With IFS ERP, ESHOT can:

  • Elevate resource utilization across departments

  • Coordinate processes end to end

  • Record every operation for audit and analysis

  • Perform cost–benefit and financial analyses to inform short‑, medium‑, and long‑term planning

Key Implementation Highlights

“IFS ERP fully integrated our central warehouse, repair workshops, maintenance posts, and procurement activities,” says Orman.

  • Material issues from the main store to satellite depots are now tracked in real time. Authorized users can view stock levels at headquarters, remote warehouses, and workshops.

  • The Supply and Materials Department now has on‑demand access to critical management reports.

  • To prevent duplicate item codes, ESHOT adopted IFS’s parameterized coding scheme. Standardized material groups and classifications ensure that stock tracking is based on selectable attributes rather than free‑text entries.

Benefits Realized Since Go‑Live on January 1, 2011

  • Tightened stock control and reduced inventory costs

  • Clearer failure‑rate statistics, enabling more effective preventive‑maintenance scheduling

  • Complete visibility and auditability of purchasing processes

Serving İzmir’s 50,000‑hectare metropolitan area since 1980, ESHOT now operates 1,828 buses and midibuses. Its maintenance network includes garages in Adatepe and Çiğli; workshops in Karşıyaka, Mersinli, and İnciraltı; and a dedicated Heavy‑Maintenance Facility at Gediz. There, ESHOT performs everything from engine and drivetrain overhauls to electrical systems work, tire service, upholstery, body repairs, painting, and full‑bus refurbishment—plus facility and equipment maintenance for İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and ESHOT headquarters.

Long‑Term Partnership
IFS ERP was implemented and customized by Egeria consultants, and ESHOT has successfully used IFS ERP for 13 years.
