Rolls‑Royce Power Systems Selects IFS Cloud’s Industrial AI to Strengthen Service Delivery and Sustainability
By partnering with IFS, Rolls‑Royce Power Systems — covering 10,000 employees and thousands of mtu engines — will boost efficiency, enhance operational agility, and support planning and optimization.
Frankfurt (Friedrichshafen), Germany – IFS, a global leader in enterprise cloud and industrial AI software, today announced that Rolls‑Royce’s Power Systems division has chosen IFS Cloud to modernize its global service operations and support its strategic goals of efficiency, sustainability, and growth. Known worldwide under the mtu® brand, Power Systems needed an innovative solution to improve service‑level agreement (SLA) performance and planning efficiency as it transitioned to a solution‑oriented operating model. Leveraging the power of industrial AI, IFS Cloud will transform service operations with real‑time, advanced insights and dynamic planning capabilities. The goal is to streamline workflows so that customers around the globe receive more precise, responsive service.
Using IFS Cloud’s Planning, Scheduling & Optimization (PSO) module, Rolls‑Royce Power Systems will gain better visibility into service data, allowing it to expand long‑term maintenance agreements and increase spare‑parts revenue. This optimization will improve both scheduling and technician dispatch, ensuring SLAs are met consistently across the engine fleet while raising first‑time‑fix rates.
With IFS Cloud’s What‑If Scenario Exploration (WISE) tool, Rolls‑Royce Power Systems will also enhance its planning processes through simulation. By modeling different resource allocations, maintenance schedules, and capacity‑planning scenarios, the company can anticipate challenges, optimize resource use, and better comply with SLAs. Simulating variables such as demand fluctuations, technician availability, or parts supply will enable Power Systems to make proactive, data‑driven decisions.
“After discussions with potential partners, it became clear that IFS Cloud would be a critical step in transforming our service operations,” said Joern Lindstaedt, Vice President, Global Customer Service at Rolls‑Royce Power Systems. “We selected IFS to deliver real‑time insights and dynamic planning so we can significantly improve service delivery and customer satisfaction, while supporting our efficiency and sustainability targets.”
Automating much of the planning and dispatch process will reduce manual intervention, allowing new coordinators to quickly manage resource assignments, schedule service appointments, and adjust plans on the fly.
“We’re thrilled to support Rolls‑Royce Power Systems on their shift to a more service‑centric business model,” said James Lewis, President of IFS’s Global Service Management business unit. “With IFS Cloud, we aim to help them deliver superior service to customers worldwide by increasing first‑time‑fix rates, speeding response times, and empowering more data‑driven decision‑making.”
IFS Cloud will also provide real‑time insights into engine performance, resource availability, and maintenance needs, enabling Power Systems to manage repair and replacement work more proactively across their global operations. The platform will roll out to 1,000 users at 1,200 locations in 175 countries, underscoring Rolls‑Royce’s commitment to innovation and service excellence on a global scale.
